Position: Construction Superintendent
Location: Utica, NY
Our client, a global construction company located in Utica is seeking a Construction Superintendent to join their organization. The successful candidate must possess a specialty such as electrical, mechanical, process piping, cleanroom, etc. In accordance with company policy, the individual must know and understand the duties and responsibilities described herein and perform them in an efficient and professional manner.
Be responsible for the direct supervision, planning and execution of all construction activities associated with his or her specialty. He or she is also responsible for the direct supervision of Subcontractors and Suppliers within their specialty.
Enforce the Company Safety Policy.
Maintain positive relationships with Owners, design professionals, and others related to the project. He or she will communicate in a forthright and cooperative manner with all persons concerned with the project, keeping information channels open and ensuring a high degree of credibility and confidence.
Have complete knowledge regarding his or her specialty, of the terms of the Construction Agreements or Purchase Orders; including the complete drawings; specifications; addenda; project budgets; proposed changes and change documents; and any other pertinent documents.
Be responsible for establishing and maintaining equitable and business-like relationships with Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Participate in the Project Turnover Meeting.
Work with team members to develop project baseline and milestone schedule.
Coordinate with Construction Subcontractors, and the periodic updating of the Project Schedule throughout the course of construction. He or she will communicate with Subcontractors and Suppliers with regard to the schedules and will ensure that construction progresses according to schedule.
Ensure compliance with the Contract Documents, including assuring that the work meets quality standards and project specifications.
Assist, when requested, in the take-off and pricing of proposed changes to the Contract.
Perform Quality Control functions and verify that specified and/or approved materials, quality of workmanship, etc. are being used.
Provide technical and field support to the Engineering staff, such as field measurements, layout, and as-built information etc.
With the Construction Superintendent and/or Assistant Construction Manager, check all layouts, benchmarks, and dimensions for accuracy.
Coordinate with the Construction Superintendent and/or Assistant Construction Manager all scheduled Subcontractor “show-up” and material delivery dates.
Be responsible for the safety, maintenance, and proper care of construction and testing equipment .
Assist the Construction Superintendent and/or the Assistant Construction Manager in determining quantities or percent of work in place for monthly applications for payment.
Participate in weekly Subcontractor Meeting and assist in the taking of meeting minutes.
Review all office correspondence, RFIs, PCOs, etc. relating to his or her specialty.
Participate in the completion of the Daily Construction Report.
Help determine quantities for Cost Reports (on a weekly basis).
Assist in the maintenance an accurate inventory of tools and test equipment on the project and share responsibility for these tools and equipment with the Construction Superintendent.
Ensure that all receipts and delivery tickets are submitted to the Office Manager and/or Construction Manager.
Perform related duties as assigned.
